Isn’t it time you started walking?

United Health Services and the Broome County Health Department invite you and your family members to participate in a fun and easy way to improve and protect your health.

Looking for interesting and exciting walking opportunities?  Join local walking guide, writer and photographer Rick Marsi on his upcoming tours or treat yourself to a walking trip abroad in England's Lake District.

Starting with only 10 minutes a day, the B.C. Walks program encourages everyone to enjoy walking as the excellent method of physical fitness that it is. Walking ten minutes a day.... not a big investment in time, but a huge investment in health; then twenty minutes each day.... then thirty minutes a day to create a lifelong habit which can help prevent obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Walking is free exercise requiring only a good pair of sneakers or walking shoes and the desire to commit to improved health. Join in our efforts for a healthier and happier community.
Join B.C. Walks today, and Pledge to Start Walking 10 Minutes a Day!

BC Walks for the Gold
Join United Health Services and the Broome County Health Department - Steps to a Healthier NY in celebrating Broome County's Bicentennial. Starting March 28, 2006 (the actual date of our County's 200th anniversary) 100 pairs (200 shoes) of golden footwear will be hidden along walking trails (indoor and outdoor), county parks and down Main Streets through towns, villages and cities throughout the County.

Tune into WBNG-12 for tips on where golden the shoes are hidden throughout the month then get out and walk for the health of it! If you happen to find a pair of golden shoes where you are walking you will be the recipient of a $50 certificate toward sneakers at Dick's Clothing and Sporting Goods. (Shoes found must have an official BC Walks for the Gold certificate.) If you spot a pair of golden shoes with this certificate, call 607.778.3067 and the official number will be recorded. You'll be asked to redeem your certificate at Stay Healthy at the Oakdale Mall (near Sears).

So Broome County, let's get up, walk, and find the golden shoes!
